CalKIDS College Savings Accounts
This year, the State of California launched the California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS). CalKIDS gives children in California a jumpstart on saving for college or career training.
To be eligible for CalKIDS, participants must be born in California on or after July 1, 2022 or an eligible low-income public school student in grades 1-12 in California. All qualifying participants receive a seed deposit in a CalKIDS account to help pay for future education after high school!

How to find out if your child qualifies:
  1. Visit the CalKIDS website at calkids.org/the-basics/who-is-eligible
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page where it says “Low-income Public School Students, 1st–12th Grade”
  3. Enter your child’s 10-digit Statewide Student Identifier (SSID) number in the box where it says “check to see if your child is eligible to participate.”
  4. You can find your child's 10-digit SSID by visiting our parent portal at parent.gusd.net

Update on Negotiations with Glendale Teachers Association
In December, members of the Glendale Unified and GTA bargaining teams met in-person with a mediator from the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB), the first step in the impasse process. No proposals were exchanged at this mediation session. Each bargaining team spent the day introducing their proposals and sharing information with the mediator separately in preparation for future sessions. A second mediation session is scheduled for January 18.

Glendale Unified strongly believes there is a good faith contract offer on the table, we look forward to the transparent review of the outstanding items by the mediator and are hopeful that this process will bring this nearly year-long negotiation to a swift close. Find specific details about Glendale Unified’s wage and contract proposals here.
